EODY: 9 Flu Deaths and 7 COVID-19 Deaths in One Week

A significant rise in RSV positivity has been reported, while COVID-19 levels remain stable and influenza positivity continues its downward trend, according to EODY’s epidemiological report for the week of 26 January–1 February. During this period, nine deaths from influenza and seven from COVID-19 were recorded, alongside 597 new influenza hospitalizations and 108 new COVID-19 admissions. The report also notes a slight increase in SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) cases per 1,000 admissions, four new ICU intubations for COVID-19, and 13 severe lab-confirmed flu cases requiring ICU care. RSV positivity surged notably in community surveillance, remaining stable in hospitals.
