Enlargement of strategic cooperation Greece – Italy in industry, private investment, research and innovation

The Minister of Development met today (18.11.2024) in Rome with his counterpart, Minister of Entrepreneurship of Adolfo Urso. They had a very interesting discussion and exchanged views on a number of critical issues of common interest for the two countries. Its object was the strategic cooperation between Greece and Italy in the fields of industry, research and innovation, private investment and the joint action of the two countries in the European Union to implement the proposals of the Dragi report. Takis Theodorikos said after the meeting: “We had an extremely interesting and creative discussion with my counterpart Italian Minister, Mr Urso. The main objective is to extend strategic cooperation between the two countries in the fields of industry, research and innovation and private investment. With Italy Greece has extremely important economic relations, I would say balanced, with regard to imports and exports. But we share common ideas about Europe’s present and future, the need for European autonomy and security. On the need to strengthen the competitiveness of European enterprises and close strategic economic cooperation. All – as basic ideas – are also described in the Dragi report, on which we have agreed that it is time for concrete practical initiatives to be taken in order to specialise and get flesh and blood for the good and safety of the EU itself. I believe that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni have a very crucial and essential role in today’s European Union. I believe that in view of the strategic cooperation council of the two countries on 4 February in Rome we will jointly take a number of steps to promote and cooperate in all these areas.
