Meeting on the promotion of archaeological sites and historical monuments of the municipality of Volvi, had the mayor Volvi Diamantis liamas hotel with the head of the Inspectorate of Antiquities of the Region of Thessaloniki, greece Maria Τσιάπαλη and the archaeologist Magdalene Holly.
Discussed the potential for cooperation between the municipality of Volvi, and the archaeological service, in cases such as the exploitation of the Castle of Rentina as a key archaeological site for visiting the area. In fact, on the occasion of the 40 anniversary of the beginning of the excavations in Macedonian Tempi, we planned the organisation of a series of events in 2016.
At the same time, examined the cases of emergence and other remarkable sites, such as the Step of the Apostle Paul Apollonia, the Tower of Vrasna, the Hellenistic Farmhouse in Asprovalta etc.
Mr. liamas hotel, thanked mrs Τσιάπαλη for showing an interest for the area, as well as made site visits in almost all areas of the municipality of Volvi, containing archaeological and historical findings. The head of the Inspectorate of Antiquities of the Region of Thessaloniki, for its part, expressed the hope that with a joint effort from both sides, it would be possible to be viewed to a large extent, important monuments and sites, on the imaginary axis of the ancient via Egnatia.
Also, it was decided to start joint procedures for co-organizing archaeological conference, focusing on the historical and religious monuments of the municipality of Volvi.
