End of the Road in Europe: Greece Left Without a Team as Olympiacos and Panathinaikos Exit

Olympiacos managed to defeat Bodø/Glimt 2-1, but was eliminated from the Europa League. Meanwhile, Panathinaikos suffered a 3-1 loss against Fiorentina, exiting the Conference League at the ’16’ stage, leaving Greece without a team in European competitions. Despite a 3-0 first-leg defeat to Bodø/Glimt, Olympiacos couldn’t achieve a remarkable comeback at Karaiskakis Stadium. Even with the victory, they were unable to advance. Without their top scorer, Ahmed El Kaabi, and missing numerous chances including a missed penalty, the Piraeus side came close to another European upset but fell short. The Ukrainian forward Ramon Yanetsuk entered the match at halftime and scored twice within 20 minutes, showing he could have made more of an impact. Similarly, Panathinaikos reached near greatness but faltered under pressure against Fiorentina. After conceding two goals early on, the team dominated the second half but ultimately lost 3-1, eliminating them with an aggregate score of 5-4. Both teams missed opportunities for significant European achievements, leaving Greece without representation in European tournaments.
