ENCOURAGES ECONOMIC COOPERATION Greek and Turkish Cypriots

(Title) As the Cyprus Mail, Greek and Turkish Cypriots are encouraged to contribute to the process of reunification through cooperative partnerships between the two communities.

As part of a program called “Economic Interdependence”, grants will be available for Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots to bring together interested.

The program is targeted at entrepreneurs in both individual and professional organizations. The main purpose of the project is to foster economic interdependence between the two communities by strengthening business and economic relations.

“Both the Greek Cypriot CCCI (Central Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of support and promote the communal business partnerships, “said Manthos Mavrommatis, who heads the CCCI.

The plan is available a sum of 192,000 euros for Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots who want to bring together in a communal undertaking. The maximum amount that can be pumped through a grant per company is 38 000 euros.

According to project manager for the Greek Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, Leonidas Paschalidis, each partner must have at least 30% of the shares. The aim is also to finance viable business plans and job creation by increasing intra-Cyprus business transactions.

The project is funded by the Program Development and Action for Cooperation and Trust in Cyprus of the UN.
