French President Emmanuel Macron stated that both Ukraine and Russia should agree, without conditions, to a 30-day ceasefire. During a press conference in Paris alongside Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Macron assured that France will continue to support Ukraine while emphasizing the danger Russia poses to global stability and peace. He also announced an additional €2 billion in military aid to Ukraine, including anti-tank missiles, ground-to-air missiles, and drones. Regarding the upcoming international conference on Ukraine, Macron highlighted the focus on achieving a lasting ceasefire respected by both Kyiv and Moscow. Additionally, he reiterated that it’s too early to discuss lifting sanctions against Russia until it complies with international law. Zelenskyy echoed the necessity of maintaining and strengthening economic sanctions against Russia, hoping the U.S. pressures Moscow into accepting the ceasefire. The Ukrainian president affirmed that his country would never surrender territories occupied by Russia but noted that reclaiming them through diplomatic means might be more feasible currently.
