Emmanuel Karalis returned to Greece from Apeldoorn, Netherlands, and was celebrated at the airport for securing the gold medal in the indoor pole vault at the European Championship. Despite facing challenges during the competition, Karalis achieved his greatest success on the closed track at the men’s level and received a warm welcome upon his return to Greece. In statements to the media, he thanked the Greeks for their support: “I feel very happy; it was my first medal at this level. Amid misfortune, I found myself lucky. Yes, I had an eye injury, but thank you to those who lifted me up.” At the airport, SEGAS President Sophia Sakorafa was present, along with Karalis’s family and friends, including his mother and close companions, who were there to greet him.
