Emmanuel Karalis Jumps Over 6m Again, Touching National Record in Uppsala

The unstoppable Emmanuel Karalis continues to soar, proving he is one of the most formidable pole vaulters heading into 2025. Just days after securing the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships, Karalis made another exceptional appearance. The Greek athlete took second place at the Mondo Classic meeting in Uppsala with a jump of 6.00 meters, a height he has cleared for the third time this year. He then attempted 6.05 meters, which would have been his seventh national record of the year, though it narrowly eluded him. His first and third attempts were lost in technical details. Starting his competition at 5.65 meters, which he cleared on his second attempt, he surpassed 5.80 meters on his first try, 5.90 meters on his second, and 6.00 meters on his third. Despite not breaking the world record, silver Olympic medalist from Paris continued to train under his coach and father, Haris Karalis, as well as Polish coach Marcin Stepanek. The first place was taken by Armand Duplantis with 6.05 meters, who also attempted to break the world record with 6.27 meters but had three unsuccessful tries. Karalis’ next competition will be the World Indoor Championships in Nantong, China, from March 21 to 23.
