Why Some Families Missed the First Payment
Many families who had a child in 2025 did not receive the benefit during the first payout, as newborns could not yet appear on the 2024 tax return—the key document used for eligibility assessment. To qualify for the €150 payment by end-August, the child must be correctly declared as a dependent in the taxpayer’s timely filed 2025 tax return, according to reporting by ERT.
Key Requirements for Eligibility
Beneficiaries are urged to double-check two critical details: the child’s correct AMKA (Social Security Number) and a valid IBAN registered with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).
Special Deadline for Children Born in Early 2026
For children born between 1 January and 31 July 2026, parents must apply for a Tax Identification Number (AFM) for their child by 10 August. Required documents include the birth certificate and a signed declaration from one parent consenting to the AFM issuance. Once issued, the AFM will be linked to the child’s AMKA—enabling the benefit to be processed automatically, provided all other conditions are met.
The payment will be credited directly to the bank account previously registered with AADE; no separate application for the benefit is required.
