Emergency Alert: Massive Fire at Campsite in Tavros – Residents Urged to Shut Doors and Windows

A significant fire broke out earlier today, Thursday (20.03.25), at a campsite in Tavros, prompting the Fire Brigade to issue an emergency alert. The atmosphere in the area has become particularly suffocating due to dense smoke, leading residents to receive an emergency 112 message urging them to close their windows and doors. The fire erupted shortly after 14:00 near Prophitis Daniel Street in Tavros, with flames consuming debris and pallets. Around 30 firefighters are currently battling the blaze using 11 vehicles, with volunteer firefighters and water tankers also assisting in extinguishing efforts. According to reports, nearby homes and businesses are not under threat. ‘The smoke is heading towards your area. Stay indoors and ensure doors and windows are closed,’ states the alert message. Videos from the scene depict the extent of the fire and the thick smoke enveloping the area. As of now, there are no reported injuries.
