Elon Musk Calls Spanish PM ‘Fascist’ Over Social Media Ban for Under-16s

Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), reacted furiously to Spain’s proposed ban on social media access for minors under 16, labeling Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez a ‘fascist totalitarian’ and ‘tyrant’. Sánchez announced plans to restrict underage users, citing the need to shield children from the ‘digital Wild West’ and hold tech firms accountable for harmful or misleading content. He also criticized Musk for enabling misinformation on X—especially regarding recent immigration policies—and noted Musk’s own immigrant background. Musk responded with scathing posts on X, using strong language and emojis. Similar initiatives are under review across Europe, including in Greece, while the UK, France, and Australia have already implemented stricter protections—or full bans—for under-16s.
