Lifeguard Giorgos Nikolopoulos and off-duty EKAB rescuer Christos Koullis acted instantly. Without hesitation, they entered the turbulent sea to reach the children, battling powerful waves and challenging conditions. The beach was filled with onlookers holding their breath as the rescue operation unfolded.
The two boys had drifted far from shore due to the strong currents and were unable to swim back on their own. Recognising the urgency, Nikolopoulos and Koullis moved decisively — prioritising the children’s safety above all else.
