New era for Greece as the electronic confirmation and identification of the beneficiary begins with an OTP (One-Time-Password) code. The purpose of electronic confirmation of electronic prescriptions is to better control and better serve beneficiaries. CORVERSE The specific code will be sent by message to the certified mobile phone number of each care holder as declared. The EEAY, in its circular, gives instructions on the use of the specific code and explains what applies to minors, seniors and special cases, reports Iatropedia. As noted in the circular, the OTP code will be sent by message to the certified mobile phone number of each care holder, as it will be carried out either in the Health Insurance (FAY) file of the EOPY (via the EOPY website, www.eopyy.gov.gr) or in the National Communication Register (EMP) (via the website of www.gov.gr or through the Citizens Service Centres). CORVERSE The categories of health benefits opinions to which the use of an OTP code applies are: Natural Treatments and Remediation and Remediation Centers Open Treatment Special Treatment Health Material (e.g. coatings, diagnostics, ostomical materials) Additional Care Materials (e.g. orthopedic, respiratory) Special Diet Preparations In order to make a smooth transition to the new system, it is only possible for once to issue and perform a consultation of services and health products and without a certified mobile phone number. This option will not be available for any subsequent opinions, as care beneficiaries will be required to have previously completed the mobile number certification process. What applies to minors For minor children who have not issued taxisnet codes , when issuing/executing an opinion, the parent / guardian’s mobile phone will be used to insure the child if he has made the certification through EOPY or EMCDDA. For children with taxisnet codes, there is the possibility to certify a minor child with taxisnet codes in EOPY, using a mobile phone of the same or parent/supervisor. Alternatively, if no registration is made to EOPY, the certified mobile phone number of the parent/supervisor insured by the child will be used in electronic prescription. What applies to seniors For seniors who do not have a mobile phone number, there is a possibility to certify to EOPY by using their carer’s mobile phone number. Then the publication/execution of an opinion will take place using the certified mobile phone number of the caregiver. Specific cases: For the publication of repeated (two-month, three-month) opinions, where distinct opinions are issued, separate OTP codes will be issued, one per opinion. Therefore, the beneficiaries should be advised to use the corresponding OTP code sent to them during each consultation. For the issuing of special treatment opinions, an OTP code will be issued for the aggregated opinion received approval, and this OTP code will be used to perform all analytical opinions accompanying the aggregated. For opinions performed in Open Care Rehabilitation and Remediation Centers, where an opinion is issued and a partial execution is possible, the same OTP code will be used for all partial executions of the opinion. For beneficiaries with a European Insurance Card, the mobile phone number will be indicated by the prescriber during the consultation procedure. Finally, the circular to the EOPY instructions states that there is a possibility to recover the OTP code of the beneficiary in the event of its loss through a connection to the application of the OOPY (through the OTP code recovery option).
