Electricity Charges Rise Again Due to Power Theft

The Energy Regulatory Authority published a decision in the Official Gazette approving new coefficients for charges by DEDDHE to cover losses in its network. This variable determines how much consumers will need to pay due to technical losses, which have significantly increased in recent years. Meanwhile, DEKKH recently announced that it detected power theft amounting to 1.2 million euros in businesses within the catering and hospitality sector, which is just one example of the broader situation. Notably, the previous loss coefficient in Low Voltage was 1.1357 and will now increase to 1.1619. In practice, this means that a supplier providing, for instance, 100 kilowatt-hours to a customer will be charged for 116 kilowatt-hours and must pass on the cost through the bill. Similarly, in Medium Voltage, the increase is from 1.0367 to 1.0459, affecting businesses. Finally, the new increased charges will come into effect in May as per legislation.
