Elderly Woman Assaulted in Exarchia: ‘Everything Went Black Around Me’

A harrowing incident occurred in Exarchia when a 65-year-old woman was violently attacked by a 37-year-old man in broad daylight. The victim recounted her terrifying experience to newsit.gr, describing how the assailant suddenly struck her from behind at around 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. He knocked her down, punched her forcefully in the face, and then calmly continued walking as if nothing had happened. Two days later, the same man attacked another individual, a 37-year-old man on Alexandras Avenue, breaking his nose with a punch. The attacker was subsequently arrested by DIAS officers. The elderly woman explained that she was walking and talking on her phone when the man approached her without warning and hit her on the head and legs. She suffered severe pain, fell unconscious, and was taken to Evangelismos Hospital where doctors treated her for three head wounds. The community quickly rallied to assist her after the attack. Authorities have disclosed that the suspect has a history of domestic violence, having previously assaulted his mother in Chalkida in 2024.
