ELAS Raids OPKEPE Headquarters Over Alleged Misconduct and Abuse

Today, on May 19, 2025, a police raid is taking place at the offices of OPKEPE by order of a prosecutor, investigating potential misconduct and abuse. Unconfirmed reports suggest that authorities have gathered evidence of abuses that took place in previous years within OPKEPE, prompting further investigation. The Internal Affairs Directorate of ELAS has taken charge of the operation. Two prosecutors from the European Public Prosecutor’s Office are involved in the investigation, accompanied by police officers reviewing files and data. It’s worth noting that just recently, a scandal was uncovered involving fraudulent subsidies amounting to up to 45 million euros annually, marking one of the largest cases of agricultural fraud in recent years within the EU. This case implicates not only the recipients of these subsidies but also OPKEPE officials responsible for distributing community agricultural support in Greece.
