On Thursday morning, Eirini Mourtzoukou visited the General Accounting Office (GAIA) accompanied by her new lawyer, Nikos Alexandris. This visit came after her previous attorney, Voula Dimitriadou, stepped down from the case. During the visit, Alexandris spoke to ANT1 TV, stating, ‘We are here for informational purposes, to follow up on how this matter is progressing. Mrs. Mourtzoukou wants to declare herself at the disposal of the authorities for anything they may need and to formalize my role as her legal representative in this case.’

Alexandris also declined to comment on when Mourtzoukou might be called for questioning, saying, ‘We cannot provide information about the timing. Even if I knew, I wouldn’t say it.’

Earlier in an interview on the show ‘To Proino,’ Mourtzoukou stated, ‘I am innocent; I have not touched any of the children. I trust the Greek police and judges. Does anyone understand how I feel? They keep calling me a murderer. Why shouldn’t I come out and speak? But I won’t argue with people — they are not to blame. I feel great injustice and sadness but I choose not to show it, in order to protect myself. That’s all. I can’t sleep.’
