A 23-year-old Egyptian man allegedly stabbed his 24-year-old compatriot to death over a cigarette in a greenhouse in Psari Vardas, Eleia. The suspect, who confessed to the murder inside the greenhouse, reportedly told police that something seemed odd about the cigarette he received from the victim earlier. Consequently, he attacked him with a knife, delivering a fatal blow to the heart. Authorities found the murder weapon at the crime scene, which took place on May 17th in front of two other agricultural workers. Around midday, without any prior warning signs noticed by others, the 23-year-old pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed the 24-year-old while they were collecting strawberries. The other two workers tackled the assailant to disarm him as he prepared for another strike. An ambulance was immediately called but doctors at Kato Achaias Health Center could only confirm the death of the 24-year-old worker. Witnesses stated there was no argument between the perpetrator and the victim. remorseful according to reports, approached authorities voluntarily on Sunday afternoon without legal counsel and awaits the appointment of a defense lawyer from Amaliada Court to represent him during questioning by the prosecutor.
