A tragic incident occurred on Thursday (13.03.2025), when a train collided with a passenger minivan near Ismailia in northeastern Egypt, resulting in the death of 10 people and injuring another 12. The accident happened as the minivan attempted to cross an unguarded railway crossing, according to a statement from Egypt’s National Railways Organization (ENR). Thirteen ambulances rushed to the scene of the tragedy and transported the injured to the nearby Al-Qantara hospital. The worst railway disaster in Egypt took place in 2002 in the Agiat area of Giza, where over 380 people lost their lives due to a fire in a carriage traveling from Cairo to Luxor. A child is reportedly among the 12 injured and is currently in critical condition. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident to determine the causes and responsibility.
