The natural market network is extended by the creation of a new concept of small retail, under which the company’s network, called efood local, will develop. It is noted that efood in 2021 purchased the companies of the Mouhalis Group, including the network of convenience stores called Kiosky’s, currently numbering 51 stores in Athens, Thessaloniki and cities in the district. The aim of the Greek subsidiary of Delivery Hero is to consolidate it on the natural market network, with the creation of a new generation of neighborhood shops and the development of an integrated experience for consumers, with the combination of physical and electronic markets. Looking forward to larger shares in the retail market that brings together around 2 billion euros, efood starts operation with two efood local stores in Attica (Wudi and Halandri), with a code book of more than 2,000 products and extended hours (8:00 – 2:00 all days, including Sundays and holidays). The development of the network will be carried out both by privately owned shops and by the franchise method, which will also be the main model of creating new stores. According to what Haris Takas said yesterday (17.9.20204), General Manager – Quick Commerce & Integrated Verticals as part of an information event, “the first two efood local stores will be the basis for better understanding the small retail and creating a network of new generation stores with the efood brand.” It also added that substantial growth would start in early 2025. He stressed that the development of the efood local network would move parallel to the convention stores network called Kiosky’s. As he noted, the two companies are not competitive with each other, as each has its own character. However, it did not rule out synergies between the two chains in the future. It is noted that the main reference of efood local stores is the neighborhood. The concept has a greater emphasis on food, with basic elements of the shop the corner of coffee and the warm corner, while it incorporates a large cellar, tobacco and mini market items, with a code book mostly around food and snacks. Efood, according to what Mr. Takas said, in recent years has evolved from a ordering platform to an online supermarket with a wholesale and retail network. The research and development department (R&D) now focuses on efood local and aims to integrate the convenience and experience of efood’s electronic markets into the physical store. At the same time, efood continues to develop at an impressive rate, becoming a leading delivery service on the domestic market. In 2024, efood further strengthens its strategic course with a number of important initiatives, such as further expansion of delivery by efood, development of efood local, as well as subscription efood pro service.
