The European Central Bank (ECB) kept its key interest rates unchanged during its July 2026 meeting, as widely expected by financial markets. The Governing Council decided to maintain the deposit facility rate at 2.25%.
In a tweet posted on July 23, 2026, the ECB confirmed the decision: “We kept our key interest rates at their current levels.” A link to the full monetary policy statement was also shared.
This follows the ECB’s June meeting — the first major central bank to raise rates in response to economic pressures stemming from the war in Iran and its impact on the eurozone economy. At that time, the ECB increased its three main policy rates. Now, all three remain unchanged: the deposit facility rate at 2.25%, the main refinancing operations rate at 2.40%, and the marginal lending facility rate at 2.65%.
