Easter Exodus: Smooth Traffic on Athens-Corinth Highway – Over 420,000 Vehicles Left Attica

in

More than 420,000 vehicles departed from Attica roads during this year’s Easter exodus. On Holy Friday (April 18, 2025), the final major wave of travelers left the region, with traffic on the Athens-Corinth national road now flowing smoothly. Earlier in the day, from morning until early afternoon, congestion was notably high, particularly between the Aigaleo bypass and Eleusis exit as well as along Athens Avenue from Chaidari to Aspropyrgos. There was also significant movement from the Eleusis junctions to Megara. Conversely, the Athens-Lamia national road experienced much smoother traffic flow, with only minor delays at intervals near Afidnes. Nearly half a million vehicles exited Attica, aligning closely with last year’s numbers according to data from Trochaea Attikis. Specifically, from 6:00 AM on Holy Monday until 6:00 PM today, Holy Friday, 420,640 vehicles passed through toll booths heading toward Corinth and Lamia, compared to 425,210 vehicles during the same period last year.
