Easter Bonus 2026: When It’s Paid & How to Calculate It

in

Employers in the private sector have until Holy Wednesday (8 April 2026) to pay the 2026 Easter Bonus. Many choose to disburse it earlier so employees can cover urgent expenses. All private-sector employees are entitled to the bonus—regardless of contract type (permanent, fixed-term, full-time, or part-time). The amount depends on work performed between 1 January and 30 April 2026. Full Bonus: Employees who worked the entire four-month period receive 50% of their monthly salary (for salaried workers) or 15 daily wages (for daily-wage workers). Pro-Rata Bonus: For shorter employment periods (e.g., hiring after 1 Jan, resignation, or dismissal), the bonus is calculated at 1/15 of half the monthly salary per 8 calendar days worked. Unpaid absences and sick days covered by insurance benefits are excluded from the calculation period.
