Easter Basket: Government Decision Expected Next Week

Today, March 21, 2025, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos and Agriculture and Food Minister Kostas Tsiafas met to discuss the increasing needs leading up to Easter. All market data was reviewed, along with upcoming actions to ensure smooth conditions ahead of the holiday. In the coming period, enhanced inspections by authorities from both ministries will be implemented at both wholesale and retail levels to maintain the regulated profit margin and prevent market distortions. Both ministers emphasized that the government will closely monitor developments to ensure an affordable Easter table without surprises for consumers. Next week, the Ministry of Development will issue a ministerial decision regarding the Easter Basket and the products it will include, aiming to keep prices low for the general consumer. As confirmed during a meeting at the Ministry of Development between Ministers Takis Theodorikakos and Kostas Tsiafas, the primary goal is to protect consumers and support Greek production through targeted measures that prevent unjustified price hikes and profiteering. Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Christos Kellas also attended the meeting.
