A drone struck Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates early Saturday morning (March 7, 2026), during ongoing aerial interceptions in the area, according to UAE defense authorities. The UAE Ministry of Defense stated the country is facing an attack originating from Iran.

An eyewitness told AFP they heard a powerful explosion and saw a plume of smoke rising into the sky above the airport. Flight tracking website Flightradar24 showed aircraft circling over Dubai Airport during the morning hours.

The Dubai government confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that a ‘minor incident’ occurred, resulting in debris falling after an interception — with no reported injuries. It also denied unverified social media claims about incidents at Dubai International Airport.

Emirates Airlines announced on X that all its flights to and from Dubai have been suspended until further notice.
