A taxi driver was arrested after causing a crash while driving under the influence on Tuesday (March 25, 2025) in Pikermi. The accident injured a 65-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Marathonos Avenue at 48 when the taxi, driven by a 57-year-old man, collided with a moving car traveling in the same direction. The taxi then veered off course, hit a parked vehicle, and ended up inside a grill restaurant. The 65-year-old driver and the 17-year-old passenger of the other car were injured and transported to the Red Cross Hospital and Children’s Hospital, respectively, but are out of danger. A breathalyzer test revealed that the taxi driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.61 units, exceeding the professional driver limit of 0.10. Consequently, he was arrested for dangerous driving and bodily harm and will be prosecuted.
