Drunk Driver Arrested for Speeding at 206 km/h on Sygrou Avenue – Caught by Traffic Radar

A dangerous driving incident was halted on Thursday, April 3, 2025, when a 45-year-old driver was caught speeding at over 200 km/h on Sygrou Avenue in Kallithea while under the influence of alcohol. According to ELAS (Greek Police), radar equipment detected that the man was traveling at an alarming speed of 206 km/h—far exceeding the legal limit of 90 km/h—and posed a significant risk to other road users. Officers from the Road Accident Prevention & Control Unit monitored the vehicle throughout its journey to avoid potential collisions with other cars. The vehicle was eventually stopped on Athens Avenue in Peristeri. A subsequent breathalyzer test confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.52 mg/l. Administrative penalties were imposed on the driver, and formal charges for reckless driving were filed against him. The suspect, facing charges from the Kallithea Traffic Department, was subsequently handed over to the competent prosecutor.
