A 22-year-old driver involved in a fatal car accident in Peristeri claimed she only had three glasses of wine before the incident. The crash resulted in the death of a 47-year-old taxi driver. According to reports, the young woman was driving under the influence with an alcohol level nearly three times above the legal limit. She stated that she was at a store in Keratsini with friends and decided to go eat in Petroupoli. Security camera footage revealed her speeding through a red light at an intersection, leading to the collision with the taxi. The driver admitted to not remembering much about the crash itself, only recalling the sound of the impact. Despite her claims, witnesses reported dangerous maneuvers and excessive speed. Placed under house arrest with an ankle monitor after her statement, the 22-year-old expressed deep remorse for her actions and apologized to the victim’s family. The deceased taxi driver leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter and worked tirelessly to support his family. The young driver is now facing criminal charges for reckless driving.
