Driver Arrested for Fatal Car Accident in Chania Involving a 76-Year-Old Man

A driver responsible for a fatal car accident that occurred on the evening of Saturday, March 29, 2025, has been arrested. The incident took place near the borders of Agia Marina and Platanias, resulting in the death of a 76-year-old man. According to authorities, the arrested individual is the owner of one of the two vehicles involved in the collision. The accident happened when a vehicle driven by a man approximately 70 years old swerved off course and collided with a wall. Emergency responders from EKAB arrived promptly but unfortunately found the driver had already passed away, leaving them unable to provide assistance. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
