A chilling murder investigation has intensified in Aigio, following the double homicide of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son inside their home in Longos. The couple’s 65-year-old Italian partner — already arrested and remanded in custody — continues to deny any involvement, insisting he is innocent.
Blood Evidence Outside the Crime Scene
Twenty-seven days after the killings, forensic investigators are awaiting DNA results from two bloodstains discovered in separate locations within the house — both outside the bedroom where the victims were found dead. According to new information reported by Live News, one sample — described as a dark reddish-brown stain — was found on the exterior surface of a wardrobe in the second bedroom: the shared bedroom of the 54-year-old victim and the 65-year-old suspect. Preliminary indications suggest this blood belongs to the woman.
A second bloodstain was detected on the floor of the hallway, just outside the bathroom door — and crucially, also directly in front of the entrance to the bedroom where Maria and her son Olympios were discovered lifeless.
Suspect Tested Positive for Sedatives and Cannabis
The suspect claimed he initially slept in the victims’ bedroom but later moved elsewhere because his partner was snoring and preventing him from resting. He says he woke up the next morning at 11 a.m. and heard nothing during the night. His defense team highlighted the presence of sedative substances and cannabis in his system — findings they argue support his claim that he was in a state of deep sedation and therefore unaware of his surroundings at the time of the crime.
Meanwhile, the victim’s sister told reporters: “To my knowledge, neither of them had been hospitalized or prescribed psychiatric medication. My sister was somewhat more vulnerable and distressed — she had recently lost both her husband and our brother.”
Victim’s Fragile Mental State
Friends and close relatives of the victims have emphasized the 54-year-old Maria’s fragile psychological condition, describing how both her son and her Italian partner actively supported her during this difficult period.
Investigators are now awaiting lab results from additional evidence collected at the scene — including a robotic vacuum cleaner found in the home. Despite the emerging forensic developments, Greek authorities continue to regard the Italian man as the prime suspect in the case.
In the coming days, either the initial suspicions will be confirmed — or this increasingly complex thriller may take a dramatic turn.
