Donation of medicines to the community medical centre-pharmacy

More than a thousand drugs and dozens of valuable hospital materials offered in the Municipality of Glyfada Unit Palliative Treatment “Jenny Karezi” of the Medical School of the University of Athens. The Mayor of Glyfada Georgios Papanikolaou, thanked warmly for the valuable contribution, which allows the Municipality to strengthen and broaden the social action and support the most vulnerable of our fellow citizens.
In particular, the number of medicines that were donated to the community medical centre – pharmacy of the Municipality of Glyfada stands at 1,146 pieces in 158 pieces of hospital equipment (syringes, gauze, bandages, cotton, containers, nasogastric tubes, sticky plastic spouts for drainage of fluid, sera). The categories of drugs are:
· Heart diseases
· Circulatory system diseases
· Hypertension
· Respiratory diseases
· Endocrine glands diseases
· Neurological and Psychiatric diseases
· Gastrointestinal diseases
· Antilipidemic
· Antibiotics, common cold and flu
· Antipyretics-Tylenol
· Supplements: iron, magnesium, calcium
The Unit Palliative Treatment “Jenny Karezi” of the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, operates since 1993, and annually receives more than 4,000 visits to patients who suffer from cancer and other chronic diseases. It is annex of Aretaieiou hospital and located in street Corinth 27 in Ampelokipoi. Provides free comprehensive care to patients (relief of pain and other physical symptoms, psychological support of patients and their families), improve level of their life and helps them to face with dignity the extremely difficult conditions of their illness. Responsible of the unit for the clinical, research and educational work is the Professor of Palliative Treatment of the Medical School of the university of ATHENS Sunday Μυστακίδου.
