In a statement from the White House, Donald Trump emphasized that “Ukraine has no other option but to sign a ceasefire,” against the backdrop of discussions aimed at finding a solution to end the war. The American government has noted “significant progress” in the past two days with both Russia and Ukraine towards a peaceful resolution of the crisis, Trump said earlier. “I will say that in recent days we have made great progress with Ukraine and great progress with Russia, and it would be wonderful to see this through to the end,” he stressed, adding that Ukraine must accept a peace agreement because it has no other choice. “I think what is about to happen is that Ukraine will want to make an agreement because I don’t think they have another option,” the U.S. president said when asked what he expected from Ukrainian leadership. He added that Russia, in his opinion, “also wants to make an agreement.” Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio and others are set to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday to participate in a meeting where Andrii Gerbiak, a top advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will also be present, according to Fox News.
