Donald Trump restores “maximum pressure” in Iran with nuclear background

The American president said today (04/02/2025) that he wants to exercise “maximum pressure” on , targeting mainly his nuclear program. Donald Trump repeated the same phrase he had used during his first term speaking to reporters in the White House where he signed a memorandum to impose new sanctions on Iran at the Oval Office. CORVERSE With this memorandum it restores the “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran and aims to deprive Tehran of all access to a nuclear weapon, said American official. The “very tough” directive, as Trump described it, to the Finance Minister is to impose “maximum economic pressure” on Iran, including sanctions and law enforcement mechanisms on those who violate existing sanctions. Donald Trump also said he would want to meet his Iranian counterpart to try to convince Iran to abandon what the United States believes are attempts to develop a nuclear weapon from Tehran. Trump also said Iran is very close to acquiring a nuclear weapon and that the US has the right to limit Iranian oil exports by blocking its sale to other countries. The American president also signed a document today to stop US participation in the United Nations Human Rights Council and to continue the cessation of funding for the UN Relief Service for Palestinians (UNWA).
