After Israel accepted the terms for a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas, the future of Gaza now lies in the hands of the militant group. In recent statements, Donald Trump clarified that within the next 24 hours, Hamas will provide its response to the ‘final ceasefire proposal.’ When asked today (04.07.2025) whether Hamas had accepted the deal through intermediaries, the U.S. president replied: ‘We’ll see what happens, we’ll know within the next 24 hours.’

A source close to Hamas stated on Thursday that the Palestinian organization has requested guarantees that this proposal will lead to an end of the war in Gaza. Two Israeli officials emphasized that these details are still being worked out. On Tuesday, both sides agreed to resume negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.

A previous two-month ceasefire ended in March when Israel resumed military operations in Gaza. Donald Trump also referred to the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements signed by several Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel during his first term as U.S. president. When questioned by journalists, he mentioned speaking with the Saudi Arabian Defense Minister about the possibility of other nations joining the accords.
