In a message regarding the elections in Germany, sent on Sunday evening (23.02.2025), U.S. President Donald Trump described it as a “great day for Germany” following the victory of the Christian Democrats (CDU) in the elections, despite the significant rise of the far-right AfD, which is strongly supported by Trump’s Republican ally, Elon Musk. “It’s a great day for Germany and the United States,” praised the Republican president on his Truth Social platform as the conservative members of the Christian Democratic Union and their allies from Bavaria, the Christian Social Union (CSU), garnered nearly 29%. “Like the United States, the German people are tired of an agenda that lacks common sense, especially concerning energy and migration,” Trump wrote in his post.
