Conspiracy theories have been rampant after Donald Trump declined to drink the coffee offered to him during his visit to Saudi Arabia. President Trump was given a grand royal welcome in Saudi Arabia as part of his first significant overseas trip during his second term. Wearing a navy tie for the occasion, Trump had a friendly meeting with Saudi leader Mohammed bin Salman. After entering an opulent room, formal introductions of delegations took place followed by an impressive coffee and tea ceremony. Trump, who doesn’t drink coffee, accepted the cup but didn’t take a sip, merely holding it in his hands. His Saudi and American counterparts drank their coffee while Trump sat there motionlessly, looking around with the cup in hand. He later asked bin Salman something, received an answer, and placed the cup on the table beside him. Supporters of Trump on social media speculated that his refusal might hint at a more suspicious reason. One user suggested that Trump avoided drinking the coffee due to fears of assassination attempts: “It might have been poisoned. The Secret Service tells him not to consume anything unless it’s been checked.” “After three assassination attempts against him, how can anyone accuse him?” wrote another. “He must be extremely cautious,” commented a third. Others pointed out that Trump is known for not consuming caffeine, except for Diet Coke. “Maybe he just didn’t like it or wasn’t in the mood for coffee at that moment,” said one. “He doesn’t drink coffee,” emphasized another. “The president doesn’t drink coffee,” added a third. “If they had offered him Diet Coke, the reaction would have been different,” wrote yet another.
