Domna Michailidou, Greece’s Minister for Social Cohesion and Family, shared a mix of official duties and personal moments from her recent visit to the island of Aegina. Posting photos and videos on social media, she opted for a more human, spontaneous portrayal of her day—departing from formal protocol. Among the highlights was a short video showing her enjoying a pita gyro on the ferry ride back from the island.

A promise kept

Michailidou traveled to Aegina to honor a commitment she had made months earlier: attending the graduation ceremony of students from the Perdika Primary School. ‘We made a promise—to return for the children’s graduation at the Perdika Primary School. And we kept it,’ she wrote, recalling previous visits to schools across the island as part of the national school meals program.

Warm encounters on land—and on deck

The social media post featured images from the school celebration—Michailidou chatting with students, parents, and teachers in a warm, informal atmosphere. Also included were photos from a separate meeting with parents in Marathon, underscoring her outreach beyond office walls.

But it was the final clip that captured attention: filmed on the ferry’s deck, Michailidou appears relaxed and smiling, holding a pita gyro, captioned simply: ‘The real return from Aegina.’
