Domna Michailidou: 40% of My Home 2 Program Absorbed in Just 3 Months

In a positive outlook on the housing program, Domna Michailidou, Minister for Social Cohesion and Family, spoke today (May 23, 2025) on OPEN TV. She emphasized the importance of the helpline for issuing digital disability cards. Regarding the My Home 2 program—an improved version of the successful first program—Michailidou noted that the program has already absorbed 40% of its total budget within just three months. This means that 6,500 families have not only received loan approval for specific properties they chose but also found their desired homes. ‘We are not just talking about applications; we are talking about real steps toward homeownership,’ she added. A family with one child and an income of €32,000 can enter the program and buy a home with a loan installment much lower than the rent they would pay. It’s the first time housing policy has had such an impact on daily life. The rapid absorption of My Home 2 is largely due to previously closed properties now entering the market. Additionally, Michailidou highlighted the new helpline for the Digital Disability Card, which provides immediate help for any technical or procedural issues related to issuance and use. Citizens can contact the helpline at 210 300 7606 from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Until recently, individuals with disabilities had to prove their condition every time they accessed public services, cultural spaces, or transportation—a process that was intrusive to rights and privacy. ‘People with disabilities are not invisible. As we established Personal Assistants and progressed with Early Intervention for autism spectrum disorders, we continue to ensure equality in their daily lives without bureaucracy and obstacles,’ stated Michailidou.
