Dominican Republic: At Least 13 Dead After Nightclub Roof Collapse

At least 13 people have lost their lives and dozens more were injured following the sudden collapse of the roof at a popular nightclub early Tuesday morning (08.04.2025). The incident occurred at the renowned Jet Set club in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, while famous singer Rubi Pérez was performing on stage, according to police reports. Pérez was among those rescued alive from the debris, local media reported. Hours after the tragic event, rescue teams continue to race against time, searching through the rubble for any survivors. Videos uploaded to social media show revelers dancing and singing moments before the roof suddenly collapsed into the crowd. “Our city woke up to a terrible tragedy that happened at the Jet Set nightclub. My deepest condolences go out to the families still waiting for news about their loved ones,” wrote Santo Domingo Mayor Carolina Mejía de Garrigó on X.
