Doma Michailidou and Leonidas Mantonakis are eagerly counting down to becoming parents. As mentioned by the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, the baby she is carrying moves at night and remains calm throughout the day without causing her any issues. The politician acknowledges that she has had a smooth pregnancy. ‘It’s been very good; we’re now in the ninth month, it’s a boy, and he only moves at night when I’m more relaxed. All day, while I’m on the go, he doesn’t bother me at all, and I hope all pregnancies are this easy. I hope the child will be as easy outside the womb as they have been inside,’ said Doma Michailidou in an interview with SKAI’s ‘Atairias’. Michailidou noted that she spends 10-12 hours daily at her office and reflected on the rarity of pregnant women responding from governmental positions historically. She praised her colleagues in Parliament for their kindness and support. With help from her husband, who eagerly awaits holding their first child, Michailidou maintains a regular routine despite being advised to pay closer attention to her diet and movements. Her husband, Leonidas Mantonakis, hails from Athens and graduated from the Moraitis School before entering the Medical School of the University of Athens, continuing his family’s tradition. He specialized in Psychiatry at Aiginiteio Hospital and further trained at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School. He currently practices at the First University Psychiatric Clinic of Aiginiteio Hospital and runs a private practice in Kolonaki. Their religious wedding is set for next summer on Aegina and will include a broader guest list.
