Carl Dean, the husband of country music legend Dolly Parton, passed away on Monday, March 3, at the age of 82. The nearly 60-year marriage ended in Nashville, Tennessee, as confirmed by Dolly Parton’s public relations representative to Associated Press. Dean will be laid to rest in a private ceremony attended only by close family members. In a statement, Parton expressed her gratitude for the prayers and support, saying, “Carl and I shared many wonderful years together. Words cannot express the love we shared for over 60 years.” The cause of death has not been disclosed. The couple met when Parton was just 18 years old outside a laundromat named Wishy Washy, shortly after she moved to Nashville. They fell deeply in love and got married on May 30, 1966. Recalling their first meeting, Parton mentioned how Dean genuinely took interest in her life. Her famous hit song ‘Jolene’ was inspired by a bank teller who flirted with her husband. Despite their long-lasting relationship, Parton and Dean chose not to have children.
