DNV GL: 1000 new layoffs brings the fall of the oil

The Norwegian classification Society of Ships (DNV GL) has warned that the globally low oil price could…
lead to 1,000 more redundancies in the merged company.
The company, which already faced a series of job cuts after the merger between Det Norkse Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd a few years ago, mentioned in Norwegian media, that further redundancies were inevitable given the current adversity facing the offshore industry.
The Norwegian classification Society currently employs over 17,000 employees, following the dismissal of approximately 500 employees in the last year. The company has not revealed which countries will be the last job cuts.
