The Turkish leader asked the Italian Prime Minister for its intervention in the European Union to rebuild Syria. As the Turkish Presidency Communication Directorate announced, during his conversation with Georgia Meloni, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it is important to take immediate measures to rebuild Syria and that he believes that lifting sanctions against Syria and the Italian government in this process can contribute decisively. CORVERSE Bilateral relations between Turkey and Italy and regional and global issues were also discussed. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the volume of trade between Turkey and Italy reached $32 billion last year and that this amount can be increased by improving trade and investment relations. Turkey’s leader also expressed his desire for Georgia Meloni to expand Ankara and Rome cooperation in many areas, particularly in the defence industry and energy.
