Dimitris Kyriazidis Expelled from ND Parliamentary Group After Offensive Comment

In an expedited process, Dimitris Kyriazidis was expelled from the New Democracy (ND) Parliamentary Group following an offensive comment directed at Zoi Konstantopoulou, President of the Movement for Freedom. The incident occurred during a parliamentary session where Konstantopoulou was addressing the chamber regarding a motion of no confidence against the government. Kyriazidis made a derogatory remark, saying, ‘Go have a child.’ This led to widespread condemnation in parliament, prompting Nikitas Kaklamanis to announce shortly afterward that Kyriazidis would be referred to the ND Ethics Committee for expulsion. On March 7, 2025, less than 24 hours after the incident, the Ethics Committee unanimously decided to expel Kyriazidis from the ND Parliamentary Group, citing his unparliamentary and disrespectful behavior as reasons for the decision.
