As a pre-requisite financial and investment criterion, Nicholas Ioannis Dimtsas, its Deputy Managing Director, described the development with bioclimatic characteristics, speaking at the 7th Conference of Infrastructure and Transport – ITC 2024, held today (17.9.2024) and tomorrow at the Athens Concert Hall – International Conference Center. Referring to Dimand’s strategy, Mr. Dimtsas stressed that the company has made the decision since 2009 to invest in sustainable bioclimatic buildings certified by LEED at least in Gold grade, a model adopted by the market. “The designation of a building as green starts from its study and concerns elements such as the use of recyclable materials and light orientation, resulting in reduced consumption and reduced thermal needs,” he said. ‘At one time investors and real estate users rewarded the development of bioclimatic buildings in the form of a higher price or rent. Today, they simply do not deal with non-bioclimatic properties, since this feature is now given, it is part of the ESG policy,” he added. In the context of this strategy, Dimand delivers in the summer of 2026 the New Judicial Palace of Piraeus, as Mr Dimtsas has done. According to him, for the development of the project, financed by the Recovery Fund, high standards of sustainability and sustainability are met, which are not limited to the building, but also concern the public area, so that there is a positive social impact on the area where the property is developed. “In this context, part of the development will be delivered as a donation to the Municipality of Piraeus, in order to create a park that will strengthen the microeconomics in the area of Agios Dionysios Piraeus,” said Dimand’s Deputy Managing Director. “In these actions we are not alone, but we give the trigger, but there are other bodies that contribute to them. The meaning of an urban regeneration is to take life again an area abandoned and degraded,” he concluded. As regards the financing of urban regenerations, he made it known that the Recovery Fund and the EMRD are intended to continue to invest in such projects.
