The Hellenic Bank Clearing House (DIAS) closed 2025 with record-breaking performance across transaction volume, value, revenue, and profitability. In the first half of 2026, Greece completed its integration into the European instant payments ecosystem through the inclusion of its national instant payment system, IRIS, in the EuroPA (European Payments Alliance) initiative.
Strong Financial Growth
At today’s General Assembly, DIAS approved its 2025 annual financial statements — confirming another year of robust financial results driven by the rapid expansion of instant payments in Greece. DIAS is the only Automated Clearing House (ACH) in Europe to post consistent double-digit growth over the past five years. Based on performance in early 2026, it is on track to achieve a sixth consecutive year of double-digit growth.
In 2025, DIAS reported:
- 540.4 million cleared transactions (+15.7% year-on-year)
- €544.4 billion in transaction value
- €18.96 million in revenue (+79.5% vs. 2020)
- €7.66 million in net profit (+312.5% vs. 2020)
- Return on Equity (ROE) of 27.2%, up from 10.0% in 2020
Between 2020 and 2025, total revenues rose by 84.5%, while total expenses increased by just 21.4% — resulting in more than a fourfold increase in net profitability.
Dividend Distribution Approved
The General Assembly also approved the distribution of dividends amounting to €6.2 million — representing 81% of the 2025 net profit.
Greece Leads in Instant Payments Adoption
Thanks to the rollout of the ‘IRIS Everywhere’ initiative and supporting legislation, Greece has become the first country in Europe to achieve universal acceptance of Account-to-Account (A2A) instant payments — both at physical and online points of sale.
Today, IRIS serves 4.6 million citizens and 600,000 professionals. It is available across approximately 1.2 million point-of-sale (POS) terminals via dynamic QR codes and in 70,000 e-commerce stores — creating, proportionally to the country’s size, one of the largest instant payment acceptance networks in Europe.
Greece’s Instant Payment Ratio reached 35.8% in June 2026 — up from just 3.3% at the end of 2021 — aligning the country with the euro area average.
Connecting Greece to Europe
A key milestone was DIAS’s integration into the EuroPA initiative. As of 30 June 2026, 57.3 million citizens across Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Andorra can now send cross-border instant payments using only the recipient’s mobile number — via their own national instant payment service.
By end-2026, the EuroPA network is expected to expand to 176 million users across 18 countries. A future phase will extend support to in-store and online merchant payments via EuroPA.
CEO Statement
Stavroula Kampouridou, CEO of DIAS, said: “2025 was a landmark year for DIAS. We delivered on all strategic objectives — and exceeded key operational and financial targets.”
