Dialogues That ‘Burned’ the Fraudulent Prescription Network Exposed

in

Conversations that acted as a ‘fire’ to expose members of the fraudulent prescription network, causing over €1.2 million in losses to EOPYY, have been brought to light by newsit.gr. The key figures involved include the head of the network—a pharmacist—along with a doctor, a pharmacy employee, and another individual. These recorded dialogues reveal discussions about prescribing medications illicitly, using derogatory terms like ‘stupid’ among themselves, while also cautioning each other to avoid saying too much over the phone. For instance, the leader pharmacist refers to the employee as ‘stupid’ while discussing previous prescriptions from earlier batches. In one conversation, the doctor member is warned about potential investigations, indicating awareness of their illegal activities. The criminal organization dismantled by the Economic Crime Prosecution Department of Organized Crime had issued 33,962 fake prescriptions and possessed 17,000 pharmaceutical products. Two more individuals are under investigation, with 15 others named in the indictment.
