A 58-year-old woman died and dozens were injured in a serious multi-vehicle crash on Saturday, June 20, 2026, along the Foothill Freeway (Highway 210) in Irwindale, California. The collision occurred just after 9 a.m. near the Irwindale Avenue on-ramp.

Truck breaches median, strikes oncoming traffic

According to the California Highway Patrol, a commercial truck lost control, crashed through the concrete median barrier separating opposing lanes of traffic, and entered the northbound lanes—where it struck at least two vehicles head-on. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage and triggering an immediate emergency response.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene to extricate trapped occupants and administer first aid. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed the deceased as 58-year-old Christina King. Authorities have not released further details about her residence or family background.

Dozens injured—including six children

In total, dozens of people were injured. Two individuals were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while eight others sustained minor injuries. Among those with minor injuries were six children, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

An additional 22 people involved in the crash received on-site medical attention but declined transport to hospitals.

Investigation underway

The exact circumstances that led the truck driver to lose control remain unknown. Investigators are examining all possible causes—including mechanical failure, driver impairment, weather conditions, and road factors. Eyewitness accounts, surveillance footage, and vehicle data recorders from the involved cars and truck are expected to play key roles in the probe.

The crash caused major traffic disruptions on the freeway for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear wreckage and restore safe driving conditions.
