The Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy, and Water (RAAEW) has approved the Ten-Year Development Program (TYDP) of DESFA for the period 2024-2033 during its meeting on Wednesday (19.3.2025). The approved TYDP includes 71 projects with a total budget of €1.37 billion, out of which 68 projects are part of the three-year development phase with corresponding investment costs (CapEx) amounting to €1.34 billion. Three new projects totaling €18.98 million have been included for the first time, while the remaining projects were previously included in earlier TYDPs and are currently under development. These investments aim to increase system capacity and flexibility, relieve critical sections of the NGTS, ensure optimal use of existing and new infrastructure like the FSRU Alexandroupolis, TAP, and ICGB pipelines. The program also seeks to enhance Greece’s gas export capabilities, diversify supply sources, and strengthen regional energy security through new interconnections. It focuses on expanding the transmission network to provide access to new regions and markets via the Small-Scale LNG value chain. Furthermore, according to DESFA’s decarbonization strategy, several projects prepare the NGTS for renewable gases, emphasizing hydrogen. Key projects include the new pipeline Karperí-Komotiní, the Néa Mesimvría-Eúzoni-Gevgelíja pipeline, the Western Macedonia High-Pressure Pipeline, the Small Scale LNG jetty at Revythoussa, the High-Pressure Pipeline to Patras, and various compression stations.
