Delta Lady Finally Gets Electricity After 45 Years – Mitsotakis Steps In

in

A new chapter has begun for the ‘Lady of the Delta’ in Evros. Thanks to the intervention of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the cabin where Artemis Papakostidou has lived since 1980 now has electricity. The remote cabin, located at the mouth of the Evros River delta, was powered using solar panels installed on its roof. This marks a significant improvement in living conditions for the couple who have been residing there without basic infrastructure for decades. For years, Artemis and her husband Nicos relied solely on a satellite phone for communication with the outside world. Now, with continuous access to electricity day and night, their lives will be considerably easier in this isolated and sensitive border area.
